Being a broke college girl, finding a dress for a formal or any sort of party can be the #struggle. Why spend over $100 on a dress you are going to wear once? Sounds like a waste of money to me. I am going to be very generous here (lol) and share with you some of my tried and true websites to find the perfect dress. Whether you are going to a wedding or homecoming dance, you are sure to find your perfect dress on these websites.
Tobi has and always will be on of my favorite places to look for dresses. The designs are simple, yet flattering. It is easy to search for the exact style you want without looking through millions of dresses. Not to mention, they are always having sales (who doesn’t love a good deal??) If you sign up for their emails you get 50% off of your first order and emails almost daily about their daily promotions. Another reason I love this site is because they offer free shipping over $50 and FREE RETURNS. The free returns are a game changer for me. I always order two of the same dress in different sizes since I can always return the one that does not fit. Sadly, sale items are final sale, which means not returns, but they offer plenty of other discounted dresses.
Here are a few I’m drooling over:
I have ordered with Shein a few times and overall I am impressed with what I have received. All the clothing is super cheap and great for a one time wear. They focus on very trendy items so if you want to be the hottest gal on the block, I recommend checking this site out. My biggest piece of advice I can give when ordering from here is to read the reviews on the items and listen to what people have to say about them. Look at the pictures they post and determine for yourself if it is worth the money. Also, look at the size chart and measure yourself before ordering something. One thing I do not like about the website is that the shipping does take a while but it also is free so beggars can’t be choosers.
Here are a few I’m loving:
Lulus is always getting cute, new arrivals. Their pieces are contemporary and trendy and usually are what most girls in high school and college are looking for. Their dresses can be a little more than Tobi and Shein depending on what you are looking for but they are amazing quality and I have received many compliments on my dresses from there. Just like Tobi, they offer free shipping on orders of $50 and more and again, free returns. If you sign up to receive their emails you also get 10% off your first purchase!
Here are some dresses that flip my skirt:
4. Curtsy App
The Curtsy app is something new to my campus at the University of Kentucky, but something that the company is looking to expand. Girls from your college campus can post their dresses to be rented. They post a picture of the dress, the size, the kind of event it is meant for, and the price to rent. It is so simple and easy and helps girls make money and save money on what would be, very expensive dresses. Brand such as Free People, BCBG, and For Love and Lemons, are just a few that can be found on the app for much cheaper than their retail price. The app is very popular in southern schools such as Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, and many more. Girls there have made up to $500 per semester using this app. You get to post your dresses that are sitting in your closet and girls can rent them for date parties, formals, and any other events they may need it for. The best part is that you can meet and try the dress on before committing to renting and paying for it. To check out and download the app, click this link:http://heycurtsy.com/Kristina-Tidaback. I have already made $10 for letting someone rent my dress!
